Snack Time

Abigail and Matthew enjoy working together in the kitchen. Yesterday they cut celery and topped it with sunbutter and almonds. The celery bites disappeared as fast as they were made!

Quinoa Hodge Podge

Quinoa cooked with cabbage, peas, onion and tomato. This makes a nice warm meal on a cool day.

Marshall's Grand Opening

Abby, Isaac and I were able to attend the grand opening of a Marshall's store. We were given a free shopping bag. The items we purchased include an Easter hat for Abby, avocado oil, tea towels and a few snacks.

Cabbage Wraps

Cabbage is a favorite food around here. My kiddos get excited as we put more and more heads of cabbage in the shopping cart. We usually buy one purple head and five or six green heads every two weeks. We eat the purple cabbage in salads and the green in a variety of ways. One way is to use it for a wrap. These wraps are filled with quinoa, avocado, olives, onion, and roasted red peppers (from a jar).

Cabbage has many health benefits including:

anti-inflammatory properties
 avoiding constipation
cancer prevention
high in vitamin C

Another benefit of cabbage is the inexpensive cost.  The most I have paid for green cabbage is 69 cents a pound, but it is often under 40 cents a pound.

Abby's Thrift Store Dress

Abby is her mama's daughter. She likes to wear dresses and mismatched socks. She also likes to shop at thrift stores so she may have lots of dresses! Abby's hair bow is from Grandma and was sent in a package by Aunt Colleen. Kiddos are always excited when a box arrives from Grandma and Aunt Colleen!

One More Hutch

This hutch was also purchased on Craig's List. Matt and Amie cleaned it for me. Now I have my own space in the school room and kiddos have more room on the table for their puzzle. The hutch has quaint rustic latches and I think it is lovely. Two hutches are enough though, so I've stopped looking. The two we have are great finds.

Latest Find

This lovely hutch is our latest Craig's List find. It is solid cherry and was made by Kroehler in 1960. I am thankful we found it for such a low price. It is also a blessing to have a place to display china pieces from two of my great grandmothers.
